Hello 2020!
Jan. 2nd, 2020 11:53 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
First and foremost, I'd like to wish everyone still reading this the best of luck in the new year. May it bring you joy and happiness in all that you do.
I made new year's resolutions last year of which I probably didn't keep up with. I did read a lot more, and I started exercising more, by which I mean I took up rope-skipping again.
Some 25 years ago, I was a competition level skipper but those days are long gone. Although, I still got the moves.
It was a colleague of mine (with whom I've become quite good friends) who pushed me to find a sport I would love to do (and chess didn't count). She kept pushing until I finally wanted her to stop nagging so I joined a local rope-skipping group. She got her way. :p
There's maybe one resolution I would like to make and that would be that I would try to post here again. I've been absent, I know (don't tell me), and I thought it had maybe been too long to come back and say "Hey, still alive!". However, someone recently told me it's never too late to come back in and go "Hey guys, I'm still alive. How are you?"
So here I am... again...
And I will try to post at least once a week -- even if it's just to say "hi".

Date: 2020-01-05 03:10 am (UTC)I'm watching Spyfall I right now. Whee!
So have you written any fic lately or made any good art, or are you focusing fannishness elsewhere? Or just taken a break from all that?

Date: 2020-01-13 11:39 pm (UTC)I have not written any fics lately. Don't have much time for it.
Writing python 3 code these days, and writing automatic processes in UiPath.
I have 1 fic left to post for FandomStocking 2018 but I'm not sure I want to post it as it is. I'm not happy with how it's looking at the moment. May rewrite it -- actually definitely will rewrite it.
I haven't done any fanart because I have to buy a new computer first. My laptop is ready to be replaced with, hopefully, a MSI gaming computer (always wanted to have on) which allows for faster and stronger memory and processing so 3D and photoshop and the likes can be put back on the menu.
The last graphic design artsy-fartsy project I did, was photoshop my rope-skipping teammates onto christmas balls and put them up in a vector christmas tree for the anual Skippies calendar. Haven't seen the result of the print yet.
No... definitely no break... not really anyway... =P

Date: 2020-01-03 04:26 am (UTC)I did not know that there were rope-skipping groups for adults. That is awesome!

Date: 2020-01-03 06:10 pm (UTC)Found one. Then went to their first lesson and had to sit down halfway through, and I thank every deity in the universe that the teacher of that day wasn't actually the teacher of the group cause she overdid it somewhat. I don't think I would have stayed if she had been our coach the rest of the year.
But the group is an interesting mix of moms of skippers to a couple who skipped before, then stopped and started again (like myself). And the best part of it, around Halloween and Christmas we still get to play fun games during the last class before the holidays. Therefore around Halloween, we were turned into witches, and right before the christmas holiday we had to solve riddles before finally getting to our presents which was a christmas ball with our faces in**. =D
** The group makes a calendar each year and our little band was set to cover December so they wanted to do something with a christmas theme. I kinda volunteered to create a tree with our faces photoshopped in as christmas balls. Our coach then used my creation to print our faces and stuck them in a see-through ball. =D

Date: 2020-01-13 11:45 pm (UTC)I seem to have that effect on people. :p
I can do you one better. A while back I had a new connection on Twitter.
I always check who has decided to follow me so I go and check her bio, which contains the mention of "Claire Rankin".
I'm thinking, "Okay, at least we have that in common." -- follow back.
A few hours later I get a DM from this person telling me she started following me because every search she did on twitter on "claire rankin" apparently would always put me at the top of the results. =P I swear, I don't tweet much about her or to her. Though, I had to disappoint this person when she asked me if I ever met her. I didn't, but she apparently had, several times already. Darn it!
