What is the Proper Stargate Rewatch?

As you may, or may not know, MGM dusted off the Stargate franchise and is currently involved in a prequal webseries (money-wise) called Stargate Origins, which in this first (and probably last chapter) will focus on Catherine Langford's earlier life.

They hired TopFan to provide them with a template to build an application (to monetize the fanbase). The application is called Stargate Command and has more flaws and shortcomings than the average Goa'uld plan to destroy Earth. Anyone who signed up for it, might have or might not have noticed (depending where you hail from) that the application has restricted access. Basically, if you're not a resident of the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, New-Zealand or Germany, you are not elligible for all-access (20 dollar to stream very episode and film, and SGO when it's released at the end of December or January 2018, and this until May 15, 2018) and therefore can only enjoy the chaotic messagefeed, the poor quizzes, the downright boring polls and the missing gif-collection.

However, hoping there would be some more activity, I decided to start a Proper Stargate Rewatch, which basically means I'm watching the whole franchise from the beginning to the end, from Stargate (1994) to the last episode of SGU (which I haven't actually seen, like ever -- SGU as a whole I mean). We're watching about 3 episodes a week, and we're only 3 weeks in so if anyone wants to come and play on the forum of Gateworld.net (to discuss the episodes), you are most welcome.

I'm also putting in a little extra effort, to entice as many people as possible to join in. You can watch as many or as little episodes as you like (the 3 a week is because I simply don't have more time at the moment to do more). The little extra effort are quizzes and jigsaw puzzles. No actual prices can be won, only virtual stargate-rep/cred. I may be doing an end of season top and there might be some prices but only if I can manage with time.

Next two weeks I'm watching from 108 Brief Candle to 113 Hathor.

There's a new grassroots type award competition that just started nominations today. It's a character driven ballot, so it's more about fics that best explore a particular character -- and they've got categories for many secondary or minor characters from both SG1 and SGA. (Yay, Radek and Cadman finally get some love!)

The rules are pretty simple. It's open to all rating levels and almost all genres. Oh, and you can vote for as many stories as you want!

Nominations are open until September 15, 2007.

To get the ball rolling, we've opened nominations from August 12th to September 15th. Nominees will be tallied and then announced on October 15th and voting will take place until November 15th.

On December 15th, the award winners will be announced!
